Hydrangea limited edition print
LIMITED EDITION OF 30 PRINTS
Signed and numbered by the artist.
It’s misunderstood that acidic soils turn some hydrangea flowers blue, and alkali soils turn the flowers of others pink. It’s not actually the pH, it’s aluminium ions in the soil that change the colour. The ions are available in acidic soil, and are tied up in alkali soils.
Hydrangea are native to Asia and the Americas and, over time, the different colours of hydrangea have held different meanings in different cultures. Pink ones can symbolise sincere, heartfelt emotions; blue hydrangea mean you’re sorry, or that the person who just rejected your advances is frigid (though I’m pretty sure you’re the one with the problem if you insist on sending flowers even though they said no, Mr Victorian gentleman).
White hydrangea mean you’re vain or boastful because you have heaps of flowers but hardly any seeds; and purple show you really want to understand someone. So a nice mix of meanings there if you want to send a hidden message to someone who probs has no idea.
